MENS MULTNOMAH FALLS HIKE
Multnomah Falls and its iconic Benson Bridge. Join us for a Men’s Fellowship Hike at Multnomah Falls on Saturday, August 16. This will be a fun and challenging outing for the guys of Victory Church – young and old alike – to build deeper bonds outside of Sunday services. We’ll tackle Oregon’s tallest waterfall hike (about 2.4 miles round-trip with ~870 feet elevation gain and 11 switchbacks, enjoy the gorgeous views, and share time together in fellowship.
Plan at a Glance
-
8:00 AM – Meet at Victory Church (optional carpool meetup for those who want to ride together).
-
9:00 AM – Meet at Multnomah Falls (at the base of the falls, if driving separately).
-
~9:15 AM – Hike Start – Trail to the top is 2.4 miles round-trip (paved) with ~870 ft elevation gain and 11 switchbacks. We’ll take it at a reasonable pace and there will be plenty of rest opportunities.
-
~10:45 AM – Return to Base – We plan to be back down around 10:45 (approximately 1.5 hours of hiking).
-
After the Hike – Lunch & Fellowship: We’ll gather at the base to eat and hang out. Bring a sack lunch (and snacks for the trail) for yourself. Ice cream is available at the lodge if you’d like to buy a treat.
Who’s Invited
This outing is for the men of Victory Church – that includes men of all ages, young men, fathers and sons. If you can handle the climb, you’re welcome! It’s a great opportunity for dads and sons to do something active together, or for any of the guys to connect and strengthen our brotherhood.
Parking Permit – Important!
A Timed-Entry Parking Permit is required for each vehicle at Multnomah Falls during peak hours. If you plan to park at the main I-84 parking lot (Exit 31), you must reserve a $2 parking permit for your car in advance. Permits are released 14 days before the date recreation.gov (for August 16, permits become available starting August 2). Be sure to select the 9:00–10:00 AM entry slot so we’re all able to arrive and park around the same time.
How to Reserve Your Permit (per vehicle):
-
Create a Recreation.gov Account
If you don’t already have one, go to Recreation.gov and create a free account. You’ll need this to reserve your parking permit. -
Visit the Recreation.gov page for “Multnomah Falls Timed Use Permit.” Click here and it will take you directly to the Recreation.gov permit page to get started.
-
Select the Date & Time: Choose August 16 as your visit date, and select the 9:00–10:00 AM arrival window for your timed entry.
-
Purchase the Permit: Follow the prompts to book the permit for that slot. The cost is $2.00 per vehicle (paid online). You should receive a confirmation email.
-
Save/Print Your Permit: Bring a printout or have the digital permit on your phone to show when you arrive. (Cell service at the falls is spotty, so download or screenshot the permit QR code in advance.)
Note: One permit covers one vehicle (including all its passengers). Carpooling is optional but encouraged—if you ride with someone, only the driver needs to reserve a permit. The permit reserves your arrival window only, not a guaranteed parking spot, and parking at the I-84 lot (186 spaces) is first-come, first-served. Since we’ll all be reserving the 9:00–10:00 AM time slot, you may arrive and park before 9:00 AM without issue—no permit is required before 9:00 AM. In fact, we recommend arriving a few minutes early (around 8:45–9:00) to beat the crowd, secure parking, and be ready to meet at the base by 9:00 AM. Once you’re in, you’re welcome to stay beyond your one-hour arrival window; the permit only controls when you’re allowed to enter, not how long you stay.
